Viennas 15th district, Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus is a small well-populated inner-city area just west of the centre (Innere Stadt). It is a typical residential area with its fair share of greenery and more foreign residents than any other part of Vienna. As the city industrialised during the 19th century Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus became synonymous with the Austrian workers movement. There are a number of splendid Jugendstil (art nouveau) and other early 20th century buildings in the Nibelungenviertel and elsewhere. The district contains important modern amenities like the 1950s Stadthalle arts and leisure centre, Stadthallenbad swimming pool, and Lugner City and Meiselmarktzentrum shopping centres. Its Stadtbahnbrücke railway bridge is a marvel of 19th century engineering designed by Otto Wagner. The Westbahn train line, including the Westbahnhof terminus runs into Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, while the U3, U4 und U6 underground lines link it to the rest of the city.
