Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme

6 Aug-24 Sept. A century after the 36th Ulster Division fought in the Battle of the Somme, one of the worst battles in history, the Abbey Theatre presents a major new co-production directed by Jeremy Herrin, the artistic director of British touring theatre company Headlong.

This powerful play by Frank McGuinness focuses on themes of mortality, love and loss, and how world war one utterly changes the lives of eight ordinary men.

Before arriving in Dublin, the production toured Britain and Northern Ireland.
