Frank Jensen, Mayor of Copenaghen, resigns over sexual abuse allegations

One of the most influential and popular politicians in Denmark, the 59-year-old mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, recently resigned from office after being accused accused of sexual harassment and improper behaviour by nine of his young collaborators.

The accusations and complaints against Jensen, so far very popular having made Copenhagen into one Europe's greenest and most sustainable capitals, have been relaunched by the newspaper Jyllands-Posten, marking the end of Jensen's career.

"They asked me to stay, but I slept on it and in the end with a cold mind I decided to throw in the towel," said Jensen. "A choice to ignore the accusations and stay in office would have undermined my work and weighed like a shadow on all the great projects that our capital needs and continues to accomplish. I resign and apologize to the women I have offended".
