For the first time in its 33-year history, the popular Vondelpark open-air theatre one of the highlights of Amsterdams summer season has been obliged to charge a nominal entrance fee of 1 due to insufficient subsidies, with visitors asked to donate more if they can. The Openluuchttheater hosts dance shows, concerts, cabaret and childrens theatre. This year performances run until 20 August, Wednesday to Saturday, and booking is recommended.
