More than 300 bands, cabaret and theatre groups will present over 600 hours of free entertainment on 22 stages along the length of the Danube Island and the banks of the river for the 23rd annual Danube Island festival from 23 to 25 June. U-bahn Lines 1 & 6 and tram 31 will be running extended hours for the event: until 02.00 on 23 and 24 June and until 01.00 on 25 June. Austrian railways are also offering special 7 fares to under-26 year-olds travelling to Vienna for the festival from anywhere in Austria in order to relieve traffic congestion. Around three million people are expected to attend. There will be a special firework event at 22.00 on 24 June. Full details are available on the festival website www.donauinselfest.at
