5 June-28 August 2005. The Vondelpark is Amsterdams largest green space - a four-hectare park with ponds, childrens playgrounds, cafs and an open-air theatre. It has been compared to Hyde Park in London, and Central Park in New York, and it is there that every year the Vondelpark summer festival takes place. Each day of the week features something different performances for kids on Wednesdays, bandstand concerts on Thursdays, theatre and dance on Fridays, and workshops and live music on Saturdays and Sundays.

As a corollary to the festival, the Nederlands Filmmuseum in the heart of Vondelpark offers open-air screenings of classic films every Friday night from the beginning of July till 9 September. Shows start at 22.00 and admission price is 3. Cult favourites such as This is Spinal Tap, American Splendour, Jour de Fete and Hair can be enjoyed with a drink from nearby Cafe Vertigo.
