Regimental Music by the Original Hoch- und Deutschmeister

Until 15 October 2005. Dressed in traditional uniforms, members of the Hoch- und Deutschmeister band assemble and perform every Saturday at 11.00 on the corner of Graben and Kohlmarkt in the historic centre of Vienna before marching to music through St. Michael's Gate (Michaelertor) to the Inner Courtyard of the Hofburg. This is followed by a 40-minute recital of works by Johann Strauss, Franz Lehr, Carl Michael Ziehrer and Robert Stolz before returning to Graben around noon. The history of the band goes back to the year 1741, and now counts 35 musicians aged 19-82 . All tailor-made, the instruments are tuned a semitone higher than usual so as to be heard from a distance.

Every Saturday 11.00
