15-17 Sept 2006. The Orchestra of St Johns (OSJ) directed by John Lubbock, with soprano Dame Felicity Lott, presents three concerts in the historic surrounds of Dorchester Abbey, one of Oxfordshires finest classical music venues. For the first of the Music in the Abbey concerts, the OSJ performs Bachs Brandenburg concertos No. 2 & 3, Mozarts Exsultate jubilate, Let the Bright Seraphim by Handel and O delle mie speranze by Cavalli. (15 Sept). The programme for 16 Sept includes Elgars Serenade for Strings. Tchiakovskys Serenade, two pieces from Henry V by Walton and Les illuminations by Benjamin Britten. The final concert also features the OSJ Voices performing Faurs Requiem, Mozarts Laudate dominum, five spirituals from A Child of Our Time by Tippett and the world premiere of a new work by Stephen Montague (17 Sept).
