26 May-20 Oct 2006. Once a month during the summer the 18th-century Blenheim Palace offers guided tours of the beautiful formal gardens laid out in the 1920s by the 9th Duke of Marlborough with the help of French landscape artist Achille Duchne. Visitors will be taken on a two-hour tour of the South Lawn, the Secret Garden, the Rose Garden and the Water Terraces, led by Nigel Benfield, one of Blenheims garden experts. Also included in the tour is a talk by resident archivist John Forster on the history and development of the water terraces, originally designed to highlight the central Bernini water-gods fountain. Morning coffee and biscuits will be served at the beginning of the tour. Admission 19.50 (pre-booked and pre-paid). Tours start at 10.30 on 26 May, 23 June, 21 July, 18 Aug & 20 Oct.
