This summer Paris is to get two new swimming pools: the Piscine Seine-Est in the 13ieme arrondissement and the Piscine-patinoire Pailleron in the 19ieme arrondissement. The Seine-Est is a floating bathing complex moored to the banks of the river in front of the Bibliothque Franois Mitterrand. Measuring 90 m by 20 m, the new facility comprises two swimming pools, a spa and several Jacuzzis, as well as a beach for over 500 people. Water from the Seine is to be filtered for use in the pools and then re-filtered before being returned to the river. The Pailleron is on the site of the 1933 swimming and ice-skating facility, which has been renovated and expanded. New features include a paddling pool for children, a wave machine pool, a sauna, a fitness centre and a caf. For opening times, activities and addresses of the 35 swimming pools run by the Ville de Paris see the council website www.paris.fr/portail/Sport/Portal.lut?page_id=5058
