A new pool on Wayneflete Road in Barton, east Oxford, is to be officially opened to the public on 13 April. 2.8 million has been spent on the 25-metre swimming pool, which features Safeguard underwater cameras and special hoists to facilitate disabled access. The pool will be open seven days a week and swimming lessons for children are to be organized by the City of Oxford Swimming Club. Other activities include water workout classes, fun swim sessions and fitness and wellness classes. Fifteen hours a week have been set aside for local schools to use the pool. The pool has its own website: www.oxford.gov.uk/bartonpool.
