Oxford wins best council award

Oxford city council has won the 2014 best achieving local council award in the UK.

The award is given for high performance in all sectors of local government; social services, housing, economic development, low carbon footprint, opportunities for the young and management.

The MJ achievement awards, a sort of Oscar for local councils in the UK, is now in its eleventh year and is awarded by the online management journal for local authorities. In addition to the best achieving category there are awards in 13 other sections, such as children’s services, innovation in social care, legal services, trading standards and digital technology.
