On 9 March Parisians are called to the ballot-box to elect a total of 517 councillors in the Ville de Paris (city council) and 20 local municipalities, or arrondissements, for a six-year term. Run-off elections are scheduled for the following 16 March. Elected councillors then vote in a secret ballot to elect the mayor of Paris and arrondissement heads.
