An enormous party to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart is planned in Salzburg on 27 January. In Vienna on this same day the capital will officially reopen the restored downtown house where Mozart wrote "The Marriage of Figaro" and Austria's National Library will also display the original handwritten score of Mozarts Requiem.

Many of the 500 events taking place throughout the year will be in Mozarts hometown of Salzburg where there will be 260 concerts and 55 Masses.
