The Les Halles renovation project has entered its second phase with the launching of an international competition for the design of a building in the famous former marketplace. Architects have until 18 Dec to submit their initial proposals for the new construction, which will be judged by a jury made up of international architects including Jacques Herzog (Switzerland), Dominique Jakob (France), Willem Jan Neutelings (Netherlands), Rudy Riccioti (France) and Kajuyo Sejima (Japan). The jury will make its final decision in July 2007 and the project will then be voted on by the Conseil de Paris before the end of the year.
