2628 August 2005. This enormous annual event is a kind of cultural appetiser, presenting Whats On in Amsterdam for the season 2005 /2006 live! Indoor and outdoor stages in and around the two big squares, Museumplein and Leidseplein, will host dancers, cabaret artists, musicians and actors presenting a taster of what they will be offering over the coming year. Cultural institutions and publishers also have hundreds of stalls set up in the area presenting their latest editions and information about up-coming events. The Uitmarkt attracts tens of thousands of people, so three megascreens will be set up in key positions. This year there will be over 2,000 performers and artists taking part, including a group of Moroccan artists resident in the Netherlands who are presenting art works on the theme of Dutch values as part of a project entitled Kunstmarokkanen, set up to commemorate the 400 years of relations between Morocco and the Netherlands. At the Vondelpark, the Junior Uitmarkt caters to the younger set with theatre shows, music and a childrens book market. Admission is free.
