27 June-11 July 2006. The fourth edition of the Paris Cinema Festival offers over 450 films in 20 venues around the French capital. Directed by Costa-Gavras, the programme includes an official selection of international films in competition, a childrens film festival, Paris CinMmes, a section devoted to new Korean cinema, master-classes, workshops and a short film competition, Paris CinCourt. This years guests include Peter Fonda, Dario Argento, Agnes Varda, Rossy la Palma and Cyd Charisse. A retrospective dedicated to Claude Chabrol includes 30 films by the great director plus a meet-the-public event at the Max Linder Panorama in the 9th arrondissement on 4 July. Other highlights include a tribute to 17 great French actresses in classic films from the 1930s to the 1980s subtitled in English and free open-air screenings, Paris CinEtoile, on the forecourt of the Hotel de Ville on 27 June and in Montmartre on 7 July.
