3 Oct 2006-14 June 2007. The splendid Moderniste concert hall of the Palau de la Musica Catalana hosts performances by international orchestras and soloists for the Palau 100 concert cycle. Highlights include Daniel Barenboim conducting the Berlin Staatskapelle in Mahler's symphony No.9 (18 Oct), the Luxembourg Philharmonic playing music by Ravel and Bartok (13 Nov), soprano Violeta Urmana accompanied by Jan Philip Schultz on piano (22 Jan) and the Symphony Orchestra of San Paolo performing works by Rachmaninov, Villa Lobos and Respigli (6 March). Acclaimed Belgian orchestra La Petite Band, featuring Sigiswald Kuijken on viola, performs the entire cycle of Bach's Brandenburg concertos (5 June), while the closing concert (14 June) sees the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra directed by Daniel Reuss performing Schumann's 'Das Paradis und die Peri, op.50'.
