11 Oct-9 Nov 2006. One of the most important performing arts events in Spain, the Festival de Otoo, is now in its 23rd year. Thirty-eight shows, 138 events and 36 world premieres with international companies and artistes are on offer at dozens of venues across Madrid, including Teatro de La Abada, Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramtico (RESAD), Crculo de Bellas Artes, Sala Cuarta Pared, Teatro Espaol and Teatro de Madrid. Theatre highlights include Vilnius City Theatres version of Romeo and Juliet (12-15 Oct), Peter Brooks CICT company with South African drama Sizwe Bansi est mort (19-22 Oct), Tartuffe performed by La Comdie-Franaise (28, 29 & 31 Oct, 1 Nov), Chekovs The Three Sisters performed by Russian company Thtre-Atelier Piotr Fomenko (1-4 Nov) and Robert Le Page with The Anderson Project (4-6 Nov). Vinicio Capossela from Italy (13 Oct), Amina from Iceland (20 Oct) and PSAPP from the UK (21 Oct) are among the music events on offer, while the rich programme of dance works includes the Pina Bausch company with Nefs a piece (2-5 Nov) and the Japanese Karas company with Scream and Whisper (3-5 Nov). The French, Belgian and Spanish circus troupe, Cirque Hirsute, perform the world premiere of their Bal Caustique on 31 Oct & 1 Nov. Admission 22-3.
