Liu Dan: New Landscapes and Old Masters

20 Oct-26 Feb. The Ashmolean hosts an exhibition juxtaposing ink paintings by prominent Chinese artist Liu Dan alongside drawings by Raphael from the museum's collection.

Born in 1953, Dan is a leading member of a new generation of painters who have embraced the traditional medium of ink but taken it in radical new directions.

Dan's works are both modern and monumental and are inspired by the techniques of 14th-century artists from the Song dynasty as well as their Italian counterparts.

Tues-Wed 10.00-17.00. Thurs-Sat 10.00-19.00. Sun 12.00-17.00. Mon closed.
