The exhibition displays highlights from the mumok collection from 1890 to the present day.
Divided in three parts, the exhibition examines the museum's collecting profile as well as presenting milestones in recent art history.
It concentrates primarily on three periods: pre-1945 modernist works; art movements that addressed the social realities of the 1960s and 1970s; and art from the 1990s to today, with a particular focus on photograph and film.
Many of the exhibited works are by some of the most influential artists of the 20th century such as Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon and Andy Warhol, while the contemporary artists include Andreas Gursky, Lisl Ponger and Florian Pumhösl.
