Captive Beauty: Fra Angelico to Fortuny

This exhibition at the Prado includes over 250 works spanning the 14th to the 19th centuries, allowing viewers to observe the artistic progession, influences and connections from past to present.

However it is the minor details that exhibition organisers want the viewer to see - details that are often overlooked such as backgrounds, brushstrokes, hidden meanings.

As such the museum focuses on the small-scale format, including preparatory sketches and miniature works, by artists such as Bosch, Correggio, Rubens, Velázquez, Teniers, Watteau, Paret and Goya, as well as a series of 19-century paintings by Fortuny.

Many of the works on display have been restored recently.

Tues-Sun 10.00-19.00.
