Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The Path to Modernism

The Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien commemorates the birth of leading French post-impressionist Henri Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) whose work laid the foundations for Modernism.

Toulouse-Lautrec is known for his prolific output of paintings, lithographs and art-nouveau illustrations, as well as his lively and brilliantly-designed posters, almost all of which depict the night-life of the late 19-century in the Montmatre quarter of Paris.

This exhibition examines all aspects of the artist's ouevre, and features some of his most famous works and his most frequently repeated motifs.

The show includes works on loan from the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec in Albi and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
