13 Oct-29 Dec 2006. Contemporary international cinema that has not seen general release in Spain is on offer in the Cine Contemporneo season at the Casa Encendida every Friday night. Highlights include Mysterious Skin from USA director Gregg Araki (20 Oct), Argentinian film Parapalos, directed by Ana Poliak and winner of the Jury prize at the Buenos Aires Festival of Independent Cinema (27 Oct), an absurdist film from Japan, Linda, Linda, Linda by Yamashita Nobuhiro (24 Nov), and a first film from Irish photographer Perry Ogden Pavee Lackeen (22 Dec). Films from Norway, France and Germany are also programmed. The programme ends with a black comedy by Austrian film and documentary-maker Michael Glawogger entitled Slumming (29 Dec).
