25 Dec 2005. Amsterdams world-famous concert hall, the Concertgebouw, once again hosts the traditional Christmas matinee performance by the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. This year the orchestra, conducted by Mariss Jansons, will be performing Leonard Bernsteins Chichester Psalms, Gershwins Pianoconcerto in F and Poulencs Gloria, featuring pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and soprano Luba Orgonasova. The Concertgebouw orchestra earned its Royal prefix in 1988, in celebration of its centenary year. During its long and distinguished history, the orchestra has had only six directors, the latest being the Latvian-born Russian Jansons, who took up his position in 2004. Admission 60-40. Concert at 14.15.
