9-11 June 2006. Finnish conductor Sakari Oramo took over the direction of the acclaimed Birmingham Symphony Orchestra from Sir Simon Rattle in 1998 after the British conductor became director of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Now Oramo is guest conductor on his predecessors new turf, in three concerts featuring the music of 20th-century German composer Paul Hindemith, Nobilissima Visione, Beethovens piano concerto No.3 and Scheherazade by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The soloist for all three concerts is world-class Rumanian-born pianist Radu Lupu. Admission 53-15. Concerts start at 20.00.
