25 June-5 Aug 2006. The 30th edition of the Barcelona Grec international arts festival presents over 50 different theatre, dance and music events at 15 venues across the Catalan capital. Programme highlights include Portuguese fado singer Dulce Pontes at the Teatre Grec (5 July), Mikhail Baryshnikov & Hells Kitchen Dance at the Mercat de les Flors (6-9 July) and Metamorphosis by the acclaimed Catalan theatre group La Fura dels Baus at Teatre Lliure (20-22 July). English-language theatre productions include a contemporary version of Hamlet presented by the New York performance company, the Wooster Group (27 June-1 July) and a Jacobean tragedy, The Changeling, from Cheek by Jowl directed by Declan Donnellan at the Mercat de les Flors (12-15 July). The Romans Cirque Tsigane traditional gypsy circus performs at the CCCB (26 June-5 Aug). Xavier Graset also presents Conversations with the artists - meetings with directors and performers - at various libraries round Barcelona. See website for details of events and times.
