Published in 1872, Jules Vernes classic Around the World in Eighty Days is given a contemporary twist in this adaptation by Sbastien Azzopardi and Sacha Danino at the Thtre du Lucernaire in Montparnasse. Yan Mercoeur stars as the very British Phileas Fogg, with Gilles-Vincent Kapps as his French valet, Passepartout. The two are on a wager offered by Foggs friends at the Reform Club: they stand to win 20,000 if they manage to circumnavigate the world in 80 days. The versatile cast of five covers 39 exotic characters including an Indian princess in distress, a Chinese opium smoker and an incompetent German police inspector. Described by Le Figaro as an escapade recommand, Le Tour du monde features original music performed live by Sylvain Meyniac. Admission 30-8. Tues-Sat 20.00, Sun matinee 15.00.
