The Irish post office has released two news stamps, one featuring Charles Darwin and the other John Millington Synge. The 82-cent stamp of Darwin is to commemorate the bicentenary of his birth and is designed by Irish-based artist Steve Simpson (stevesimpson.com) after a portrait in the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The stamp 55 cent to mark the centenary of the death of Synge comes from a painting by Sean Keating (1889-1977), famous for his images of the insurrectionary period in Ireland, and features a scene from
