A report commissioned by the department of enterprise has found that the Irish economy is still in need of skilled migrants workers in the sectors of IT, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, construction and engineering, among others. The minister for the department of enterprise, Michael Martin, has said that the department will issue around 5,000 green cards annually to experienced overseas workers. However the report also indicates that upgrading the skills of the Irish workforce is equally important in sustaining the countrys economic development.
