Amsterdam city council is no longer to force long-term immigrants to take an integration course and language test, according to Parool newspaper reports Dutch News online.

All non-EU residents are currently obliged to take the tests, regardless of how long they have lived in the city but the council will concentrate on new arrivals in future. A city official has branded the current policy an insult and cites the example of a teacher, resident for 36 years, who was forced to undergo the course and testing, reports Dutch News.
