Road-works on Oxfords Headington roundabout on the A40 are now in their final phase and are due to be finished by Christmas. Dubbed the hamburger roundabout because of the road running through the middle of it, the site has been the cause of major traffic jams since works started in April. However, Oxfordshire county council has announced that the surfacing of the roundabout the last big job in the upgrade - is to begin in November and overnight road-works are to be carried out 7-28 Nov in order to meet the Christmas deadline. These will involve closing several roads leading to the roundabout including the A40 northern bypass (closed 21.00-6.00 from 7-13 Nov excluding Sat & Sun nights) and the A4142 Eastern bypass (closed northbound 19.30-6.00 from 14-16 Nov).
