The Austria Business Agency (ABA) has announced plans for the creation of a China Austria Technology Park (CATP) in Vienna by 2010. The park will be used as a springboard for Chinese business into central and Eastern Europe, as well as for transfers of technology. Similar structures already exist in the USA, Singapore, Russia and London. Vienna was chosen as the ideal European city for the CATP also because of its proximity to two large car manufacturing plants in the Austrian province of Styria and across the border in Slovakia. Information and communication technologies, energy and the environment, life sciences, and traditional Chinese medicine are among the activities planned for the new complex.
