Camping has never been associated with a chic lifestyle particularly in France where camping has not been a national pastime since the 1930s.

However times are changing and so are attitudes to this once humble style of holidaying.

For many in France camping or caravanning has become a way of getting backing to nature and a simple and rustic lifestyle. According to the daily newpaper Le Monde, even high-flying Parisians have taken to camping, albeit often with the help of a designer caravan.

There is even a new film by Fabien Onteniente, entitled Camping, that examines this new phenomenon, following a family and a wealthy couple in this new found activity. It looks as though camping may be in danger of becoming positively trendy.
