Xu Bing: Landscape Landscript

The Ashmolean presents "Landscape Landscript", a major exhibition devoted to the landscapes of Xu Bing, the prominent Chinese artist.

Bing is among China's most critically acclaimed artists, best known for his printmaking skills and installations pieces, as well as his creative artistic dialogue with language, words, and text; in particular its nuances and potential misunderstandings within and between cultures.

He has exhibited in some of the world's greatest art institutions and has been the recipient of numerous prestigious international awards. 

The Landscript works on show in Oxford use Chinese characters as landscape features to compose paintings in the style of traditional Chinese landscapes.
