Works from the Celia Ascher Donation

The Louisiana displays eight exceptional works by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Wassily Kandinsky, Jackson Pollock, Jean Dubuffet, Anselm Kiefer and Ellsworth Kelly, bequeathed to the museum by Celia Ascher following her recent death aged 93.

Worth a combined $16 million, the donated works had hung in Ascher's New York home and were reportedly her personal favourites. An arts philanthropist and former director of New York's Riklis-McCrory Collection, Ascher was a staunch supporter of the Louisiana since 1977.

The eight works form the final installment of the donation from the Joseph and Celia Ascher Collection, which comprises a total of 200 works. To celebrate, the museum is showing 50 works in the Asger Jorn Gallery in its north wing.
