Warhol: Early Drawings

8 Jan-21 Feb. The Louisiana has become the first museum in the world to show a collection of over 200 of Andy Warhol’s early drawings from the 1950s.

The drawings form part of a cache of approximately 300 drawings by Warhol (1928-1987) that were rediscovered recently after being archived in 1990 by the Andy Warhol Foundation.

Although the drawings were registered by the archive they had not been accessed since 1990. Many of the works in the collection are line drawings, traced by Warhol from magazines and newspapers.

The drawings date to the period when Warhol first moved to New York from Pittsburgh and began working with fashion and advertising, before becoming one of the most famous artists of the 20th century.
