23 Oct 2008-15 March 2009. Around 200 artefacts from Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia are on show at the ING Cultural Centre in this extensive display of sculptures, masks, ritual artefacts, weapons and symbols of status from the South Pacific region. Prior to the arrival of Europeans, metal was unknown in these archipelagos and the traditional artists of Oceania made use of natural materials including wood, shells, stone, feathers and fibres for their art works honouring their gods, ancestors and nature spirits.
