5-21 May 2006. The most important German-language theatre festival, Theatertreffen, presents the ten most significant theatre productions of the current season. Chosen by seven critics from over 300 productions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, this years programme includes performances of Macbeth by the Dsseldorfer Schauspielehaus, Wallenstein by the Nationaltheater Mannheim and Ivanov by the Volksbhne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz from Berlin. Hosted by the Berlin Festspiele and six other venues around the German capital, the festival also has an international forum, the Stckemarkt, and a festival newspaper. The Stckemarkt presents contemporary drama with staged playreadings by six emerging playwrights chosen by the Stckemarkt Jury. There are free late-night concerts by Mariha, Julia Hummer and Too Many Boys and a Russian Disco run by Wladimir Kaminer on 13, 16 and 19 May. Admission Stckemarkt 8, theatre productions 48-11.
