1 May-29 June 2008. Popular summer waterside bar the Strandbar Herrmann on the Danube Canal is home to all things Swiss for the duration of the European football championships EURO 2008. On weekends throughout May the bar will feature music, food and fashion events from the four Swiss cantons and cities hosting EURO 2008 matches: Bern, Zurich, Geneva and Basel. During June the focus will be on the giant led screen broadcasting all the EURO 2008 games in a beach party atmosphere. Swiss TV has set up its EURO 2008 studio at the nearby Urania observatory in order to give the Swiss public a chance to participate vicariously in the activities at the Strandbar.

Austria and Switzerland are the host countries this year for the quadrennial European Football Championships. Admission free. Daily 18.00-23.00. See website for full programme details.
