12 June - 4 October 2009. More than 30 drawings by mid-sixteenth century artists such as Vasari, Salviati, Allori and others will be on display in Christ Church picture gallery. Of the works included in the show, Jacapo Pontormo's preparatory sketch for his 'Lamentation' in the church of Santa Felicita in Florence is perhaps the most important.

Christ Church possesses a unique collection of Old Master paintings and drawings housed in an architecturally significant art gallery. The majority of works - 200 paintings and nearly 2000 drawings - were bequeathed in 1765 by ex-alumno General John Guise. Further bequests were later made by W.T.H Fox-Strangways, Walter Savage Landor and Sir Richard Nosworthy.

Mon-Sat: 10.30-17.00. Sun: 14.00-17.00.
