12 May-2 June 2006. The Festival of San Isidro from 12 to 21 May signals the start of 20 consecutive days of top-class bullfighting in La Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas del Espritu Santo, Madrids historic bullring. Las Ventas hosts a variety of bullfights including novillos (young bulls), rejones (bullfights on horseback) and Goyesca fights in period costume. During the festival bulls can also be viewed close-up in their pre-fight corral at La Venta de Batn near the Batn metro station. A corrida, or bullfight, normally lasts about two hours, but there are no fixed time limits. Seat prices vary according to proximity to the ringside and their position in the sun (sol) or shade (sombra). Admission 115.50-7 (sombra), 47.50-4 (sol). Daily 19.00.
