3-11 Dec 2005. The horse show at the Porte de Versailles Expo centre in Paris has become an important annual appointment for horse riding enthusiasts. The nine days are packed with events and activities including the International Show-jumping Competition, the Arabian Steed World Championships and three nights of the gala equestrian spectacle The Night of the Horse, a spectacular event lasting two-and-a-half hours with trick riding, carousels, team riding and much more in gala costume. In France horse riding is the fifth most practised sport and the Salon du Cheval has something for everybody, with stands dedicated to riding equipment, equine feeding and care, plus books and other specialist publications for the horse-lover. There is also a section on equestrian tourism, employment opportunities and training, as well as horse-breeding, while each day sees the presentation of dozens of thoroughbred steeds, ponies and horses from all over the world.
