8 March 2008-15 March 2009. Focussing on the frame itself rather than the art it embellishes, this unique exhibition at the Statens Museum for Kunst includes around 200 examples of European picture frames, from mediaeval altarpieces up to 20th-century artist-made frames. Exploring the relationship between a picture and its frame, as well as the historical development of styles and materials, the exhibition includes loans from important collections both in Denmark and abroad. Admission Dkk80. Pensioners Dkk60. Under-25s & students Dkk50. Under-18s free. Tues-Sun 10.00-17.00. Weds 10.00-20.00.
