Picasso and his Time

Following extensive renovations the new-look Museum Berggruen reopened to the public on 15 March with the permanent exhibition "Picasso and his Time".

The show comprises more than 100 of Picasso's canvases, sculptures and works on paper, all of which are exhibited on the museum's three floors.

Many aspects of the Spanish artist's wide-ranging career are represented, from his early work, to the blue and pink periods, to cubism and classicism.

In addition to Picasso the museum's substantial modern art collection includes 60 works by Klee and 20 by Matisse, as well as numerous pieces by both Braque and Giacometti.

The recent construction works saw the original museum expanded to include the neighbouring former Kommandantenhaus building, now connected by a glass passage with views of the museum's remodelled sculpture garden in the inner courtyard.
