26 January - 8 May 2011. Through a series of photographs this exhibition documents the life and career of a living legend from the golden age of 20th-century circus, Paulina Schumann.

Born in Barcelona in 1921 into a family of performers and circus clowns, Paulina Luisa Andreu Busto began her career by performing in big tops across Europe and America as an acrobat, juggler, dancer, singer and musician.

Then in 1946 her big break came when she married into the famous Cirkus Schumann. She reinvented herself as a master of the equestrian arts and soon attracted enormous success as Europe's premier performer with circus horses.

Due to her natural talent and beauty Schumann appeared in films and on magazine covers, becoming a popular guest at Europe's high society parties. In 2008 the Catalan government honoured her contribution to circus entertainment by awarding her with the National Circus Award.
