Now in its 46th edition, this years Paris Salon Nautique at the Porte de Versailles Expo puts the spotlight on motor vessels with over half the 110,000 sqm of exhibition space dedicated to power boats. The 2006 international boat show also features water-sports from diving to sailing and fishing, as well as a space for safety-at-sea training in lEspace Macif Centre de Voile. Hands-on experience in wake-boarding, windsurfing and kayaking is on offer in the Village de la Glisse, with guest appearances of new stars and living legends from the world of surfing. The Espace Tradition has 600 sqm devoted to traditional boat-building methods with Le Vezon, the oldest sailboat in France (1887), as a centrepiece, while two prize-winning super-modern racing yachts are on display in Le Parvis (Hall 1): the Mumm 30 Nouvelle Caldonie and the Class 40 Akilaria. This year the boat show awards a literary prize for nautically-themed books in the novel travelogue and fine literature categories. Admission 13, students 7, under 16s free. Daily 10.00-19.00.
