The work of Spanish photographer José Ortiz Echagüe (1886-1980) is the subject of an exhibition at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.
Considered one of Spain's most popular photographers of the 20th century, Echagüe was associated with the aesthetically-pleasing movement known as "pictorialism" and in 1935 he was named by American Photography magazine as "one of the top three photographers in the world".
This exhibition focuses on his aerial photographs, portraits, and allegorical and traditional images of rural life taken in North Africa between 1906 and 1916.
