The Ashmolean has delved deep into its treasure chest of works on paper to present an outstanding selection of drawings by some of the most famous artists in the history of western art.
The exhibited artists include Michelangelo, Raphael, Dürer, Rubens, Rembrandt, Turner, Degas and Pissarro, up to Gwen John, David Hockney and Antony Gormley.
The 72 works on show feature all types of drawing, from figurative to landscape to portrait, and include working sketches for the Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michelangelo as well as a drawing by Raphael completed shortly before his death in 1520.
