18 Jun 2009 - 24 Jan 2010. Known as 'the architect among dressmakers', Madeleine Vionnet was a French fashion designer famed for introducing the bias cut to the fashion world. This exhibition features avant-garde designs which she created between 1912 and 1939. The detail which characterised her designs continues to fascinate modern-day couturiers such as Issey Miyake, John Galliano and Yohji Yamamoto.
